Q'uo describes the energy centers, or chakras, as a ladder of light through which the Creator's energy rises within each person. Energy enters at the red-ray base — the center of survival, vitality, and sexuality — and is meant to flow upward in a balanced way through orange (personal and one-to-one relationship), yellow (groups, family, and society), green (unconditional love), blue (honest communication), and indigo, where it meets the gateway to intelligent infinity and union with the Creator.

The key concept is balance and flow rather than forcing the higher centers open. A blockage or distortion anywhere below constricts what can rise above it; a distortion left unresolved in a lower ray, for instance, limits what can reach the heart and higher centers no matter how much one aspires spiritually. Q'uo therefore counsels attending honestly to the whole system — including the earthy lower centers many seekers wish to skip — so that energy can move cleanly all the way up.

When the centers are activated and balanced, Q'uo describes the intelligent energy of the Creator moving freely through the whole being and meeting at the brow, opening genuine contact with intelligent infinity. This can be accompanied by the phenomenon some call kundalini, and by real physical and emotional intensity, which is why the counsel is patient, balanced work rather than dramatic forcing. The chakra system, in this teaching, is the practical anatomy of the spiritual path.
