Asked who is actually speaking, Q'uo answers with disarming humility, asking that their words be taken lightly because they are not authorities but fellow travelers walking the same road, who know its hardships as well as any seeker they visit. They offer only what rings true and ask that the rest be set aside without a second thought, refusing the role of guru or final word.

They describe themselves as belonging to those called the Brothers and Sisters of Sorrow, drawn to Earth by the sorrow of the planet and its people, and say that speaking to circles of seekers is their own chosen path of service — one through which they, too, continue to learn. The relationship is offered as fellow-seeker to fellow-seeker rather than master to pupil.

The defining constraint on their contact is free will. Q'uo says they take great care not to abridge or infringe upon it, staying behind a line of non-infringement, and note they may be present even in a seeker's private meditation only when mentally invited. For the curious or skeptical, this framing invites exactly that skepticism: weigh what is said against your own heart, and keep only what serves.
