Q'uo describes the will as a central engine of the spiritual path — the faculty that turns wish into pilgrimage. But will, in this teaching, is not gritted-teeth force; it is the natural momentum of clarified desire. What you most truly and deeply desire, you will inevitably move toward, so the first and most important work is to tend and purify what you desire in the first place.

Much of the counsel therefore turns inward, toward honesty about one's actual longings. Scattered, conflicting, or half-acknowledged desires produce a scattered life; a desire brought into the light, examined, and consciously chosen gathers the will behind it. Q'uo frames the strengthening of will less as adding effort and more as removing the confusion and self-division that leak it away.

The encouragement for the seeker who feels weak-willed or unmotivated is to stop flogging themselves toward discipline and instead ask what they genuinely want at the deepest level. When desire aligns with the heart's true seeking, will follows almost of its own accord, and the seeker finds themselves carried toward the Creator by the very force that once felt so hard to summon.
